Former Lumbini CM Kul Prasad KC Refuses to Withdraw Independent Candidacy in Dang-1

Butwal. Former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province and leader of the Nepal Communist Party (UML), Kul Prasad KC, has decided not to withdraw his candidacy from Dang Constituency No. 1. Since he did not withdraw his candidacy by the final deadline set by the Election Commission, it is now certain that his independent candidacy will remain in the electoral contest.

KC, who became dissatisfied after the party gave the official ticket to Metmani Chaudhary for that constituency, registered his nomination as an independent candidate by visiting the Election Officer's office on Tuesday. Despite continuous requests and pressure from top leaders of the UML for him to withdraw his nomination after filing, KC has rejected these calls. According to Gehendra Kunwar, Information Officer at the Provincial Election Office, KC's candidacy has now officially advanced to the electoral competition.

Among the three constituencies in Dang, no candidate has withdrawn their nomination in Constituency No. 1 and 2. However, the Election Office stated that two candidates have withdrawn their nominations in Constituency No. 3. Those who withdrew their candidacies include Ghanshyam Dangi of the Progressive Democratic Party and Gopal Wali supported by the UML.
