Western Wind System Influences Nepal Weather, Bringing Potential Rain and Snowfall

Kathmandu. The Department of Meteorology Forecasting has stated that a partial influence of the Western Wind System is currently affecting Nepal. Due to this influence, some areas in the Terai region are experiencing haze. There is partial cloud cover in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while the weather in the remaining areas is mainly clear.

This afternoon, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province will generally experience cloud cover, with partial cloud cover over the hilly regions of the remaining provinces. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in some places in Sudurpaschim Province and a few places in Karnali Province. Light snowfall is also possible in some parts of the high hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province.  

Tonight, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces will generally experience cloud cover, while the remaining areas will have partial cloud cover. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in some places in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places in Gandaki Province.  

Moderate snowfall accompanied by rain is possible in some parts of the high hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in one or two places in Bagmati Province. Light snowfall accompanied by rain is possible in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province.  

The department also stated that there is a possibility of hailstorms accompanied by thunder and lightning in one or two places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
