NATO to Continue Working with Denmark, Greenland on Arctic Security
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte affirmed that the alliance will continue working with Denmark and Greenland on Arctic security.
Following a meeting with Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and Greenland's Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt, Rutte said in a post on X platform: "We discussed how important the Arctic — including Greenland — is to our collective security and how Denmark is stepping up investments in key capabilities. We’ll continue to work together as Allies on these important issuesâ.
This comes as US President Donald Trump seeks to acquire Greenland, claiming that control of the island is essential for US security needs, a move strongly opposed by his European NATO allies, including Denmark.
