Executive Chair Jha honoured

Kathmandu, Jan 11: The Madhesi Journalists' Society honoured three journalists, including Executive Chairman of RSS, Dharmendra Jha, amidst a programme in the federal capital, Kathmandu on Sunday.

They were honoured for their special contribution to journalism. The Uma Singh Journalism Honour-2025 was conferred on Chairman Jha, journalist at Nepal Television, Sweta Sinha, and journalist working in Nepalgunj, Neelam Sharma. It was the 17th memorial day of journalist Singh.

Society's Chairman Mohan Kumar Singh informed that the honoured personalities had continuously written on the contemporary issues of Madhes in addition to their relentless voice for the justice to journalist late Singh.

In-depth, fair investigation on Singh's murder awaited: Chair Jha

At the programme, Chairman Jha said an in-depth and fair investigation on murder of journalist Uma Singh is essential. He said he was not satisfied with the investigation carried out so far on the murder of journalist Singh.

"The murder of journalist Singh is directly related to press freedom and journalists' safety. It is serious in deed. Only conclusion of family dispute as the reason behind her murder is sheer one-sided," he argued, adding that her writing and articles could be the reasons behind her murder.

He also urged the concerned sides to conduct additional investigation and study on murder of other journalists like Birendra Sah. Journalism counts when it keeps on questioning, Jha underscored.
