Installation of High Mast Lights in Kathmandu
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has installed twelve high mast lights within its territory. This initiative is part of the "Bright City Project" aimed at improving public lighting.
Mayor's Announcement and Project Scale
Mayor Balendra Shah announced on social media that the project is moving forward with an investment of approximately 100 million Nepalese Rupees by the metropolitan city. The full plan involves installing a total of 62 high mast lights across the city.
Progress and Deadline
According to the mayor, twelve lights have been installed so far. He assured that the remaining lights will be installed before the Dashain festival. One of the locations where these lights have been placed is the New Bus Park, a key transportation hub.
Other Lighting Initiatives
Mayor Shah also highlighted other efforts to improve city lighting. He mentioned that over 2,000 previously non-functional solar street lights from the previous administration's term have been replaced with electrical lights, and they are now operational. Furthermore, the metropolitan city is in the final stages of a larger street light project worth around 85 crore rupees for the purchase and installation of new lights. The mayor stated that once this project is complete, it will contribute significantly to creating a well-lit city.
