Supreme Court Resumes Hearings After Fire Incident

Hearings at the Supreme Court have resumed today after being closed. The court had been closed after it was damaged by a fire during the protests that followed the Jana Andolan movement.

Cases Being Heard Today

The court is currently hearing two separate petitions for writs of habeas corpus today. A writ of habeas corpus is a legal order that requires a person under arrest to be brought before a judge or into court.

Formation of Benches

According to the Supreme Court administration, two separate benches have been formed to hear these habeas corpus petitions. This means two different groups of judges will be reviewing the cases.
