Second Negative Circuit Break at Nepal Stock Exchange
A second negative circuit break has been triggered at the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) in Kathmandu. This event followed a sharp and destructive decline in share prices after the market opened.
How the Trading Halt Unfolded
The first negative circuit break occurred shortly after trading began. The Nepse index fell by four percent within just two minutes of opening, which activated the first circuit breaker. This led to a trading halt for twenty minutes. After trading resumed, the index fell by another five percent. This additional drop triggered the second and more severe circuit break.
Result of the Decline
With the activation of the second circuit break, the Nepse index dropped by 133.61 points. This brought the total index value down to 2538.63 points. As a result of this second circuit break, all trading activities on the stock exchange have been suspended for a period of forty minutes.
