Woman Killed in Leopard Attack in Nepalgunj

A woman has died after a leopard attack in Nepalgunj. The incident took place in the community forest of Raptisonari Village Municipality.

Discovery of the Deceased

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Lakshmi Tharu. She had been missing since Sunday. Her body was discovered on Monday near an old water tank in the Janamukhi Community Forest in Ward No. 3 of Sinabas. Shankar Gupta, the head of the Division Forest Office in Banke, provided this information.

Evidence Points to Leopard Attack

According to Mr. Gupta, leopard footprints were found near the woman's body. After reviewing footage from cameras installed in the forest, officials observed a male leopard moving in the area. This evidence confirms that a leopard was responsible for the attack.

Technical Team Deployed to Capture Leopard

This incident has caused fear among the local community. To address the immediate danger, a technical team is being sent to the area to capture the leopard. Mr. Gupta stated that the team was being dispatched immediately. He mentioned that three cameras had been installed in the area, which captured the leopard's movement.

Compensation for the Family

The Division Forest Office has stated that after a postmortem examination is completed, the victim's family will receive compensation of ten lakh rupees. This compensation will be provided based on a recommendation from the local ward office.
