Complaint Against SSP Promotion Recommendations Dismissed
The Public Service Commission has dismissed a complaint filed against the recent SSP promotion recommendations. On Saun 5, the promotion committee had recommended 11 SP officers for promotion to SSP. PSC Chairman Madhav Prasad Regmi confirmed to Ratopati that a decision has been made regarding the complaint against these recommendations.
Promotion Recommendations Upheld
A committee member revealed that Basnet's complaint was rejected and the original promotion recommendations will proceed as proposed. "The decision has been made to move forward with the existing recommendations," the member stated. Basnet, who topped the merit list, had filed the complaint alleging injustice after being excluded from the promotion list.
Background of the Case
Despite being first in the seniority list from the National Investigation Department, Basnet was not recommended for promotion. A senior police official informed Ratopati that Basnet remains under a 5-year promotion ban imposed by Police Headquarters in 2077 due to suspension over irregularity allegations. This restriction period has not yet been completed. Basnet joined the National Investigation Department on Poush 5, 2053 before transferring to police service.
List of Recommended Officers
The promotion committee recommended the following officers for SSP promotion: Tul Bahadur Karki, Rakesh Singh, Rajiv Bahadur Basnet, Kamal Thapa, Praveen Dhital, Prakash Ranabhat, Gyanendra Prasad Fuyal, Deepak Pokhrel, Dayanidhi Gyanwali, Dipendra Shahi, and Kedarnath Khanal. The original recommendations will now proceed following the dismissal of the complaint.
