Helambu Himalayan Great Trail Under Construction

Kathmandu. The 'Helambu Himalayan Great Trail' being constructed in Sindhupalchok is not just a trekking route but a wonderful confluence of nature, culture, and spirituality. According to the Hyolmo tradition, its name is Dharmachakra Wall. 

Chaitanyas built in various places, peaceful green forests, Himalayan winds, and snow-capped mountains visible from afar make travelers experience something new at every step. From here, dozens of mountains like Semisidang, Dorjelakpa, Gangchambo, Yuwa Peak, Gaurishankar can be seen.

Following the Great Wall of China, the world's tallest, Helambu Rural Municipality Chairman Nimagyaljen Sherpa said that under the plan to build a 60-kilometer Great Trail surrounding the Hyolmo land of Helambu, seven kilometers of work has already been completed.

'Out of 60 km, we have already built 7 km of trekking route, and anyone who comes here leaves delighted,' he said, 'This is one of the important pride projects of Helambu Rural Municipality.'

From Buddha Park, the tourist trail will connect to the famous pilgrimage site Ama Yangri mountain through Sermathang-Jyomthang and the border area of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality and Helambu. It will reach the Dupu-Bhemathang, Pasang Siri-Gufupokhari-Jalansa-Dawalaung Gufa-Semisidang area. After completing the trail, work is being done in such a way that one can circumambulate most of the religious sites here and enjoy the entire view of Helambu.

This trail, which will spread from 2500 meters to 5000 meters above sea level, will take about a week to complete when the full 60 kilometers are built. And every day will carry a story of new sights, new experiences, and new excitement.  Photo: Nepal Photo Library
