Rhino Dies from Electric Shock in Chitwan

A 20-year-old male rhinoceros was found dead after being electrocuted in Bhairawpur, Madi Municipality-2, Chitwan. According to Avinas Thapa Magar, Information Officer of Chitwan National Park, the rhino was discovered in a rice field at around 9:30 AM on Tuesday morning.

Investigation Underway

The rhino's horn and hooves remained intact, indicating no immediate signs of poaching. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine who was responsible for leaving live electric wires in the rice field and for what purpose.

Ongoing Threats to Wildlife

This incident highlights the dangers posed by illegal electrical traps, which continue to threaten Nepal's endangered wildlife. Chitwan National Park officials are working to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
