Kathmandu is gearing up for a groundbreaking moment as Deepal, a subsidiary of Changan Automobile, prepares to unveil Nepal’s first flying car, an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, at the NADA Auto Show 2025, running from August 19 to 24. This historic exhibition, organized by MAW Vriddhi Autocorp, marks the country’s first public showcase of a flying vehicle, signaling a major leap for Nepal’s automotive and aviation industries.

The Deepal eVTOL, designed for Urban Air Mobility (UAM), will be a centerpiece at the five-day expo in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, drawing significant public and media attention. This innovation stems from a strategic partnership between EHang (a leader in autonomous aerial vehicles) and Changan Automobile, announced on December 21, 2024. Together, they aim to revolutionize transportation by developing:

  • Autonomous eVTOL aircraft

  • Amphibious air-land mobility solutions

  • Scalable urban air transportation networks

“We envision flying vehicles as an accessible mode of transport, not just a luxury for the elite,” the companies stated. Notably, EHang made history by launching the world’s first passenger-carrying autonomous eVTOL, setting a benchmark in aerial mobility.

While full technical details of the Deepal eVTOL remain under wraps, it is expected to feature autonomous navigation, electric vertical flight, and advanced urban air safety systems. This debut positions Nepal among the pioneers in the emerging eVTOL market.
