WhatsApp to Introduce Guest Chat Feature Without Account Requirement

Kathmandu; WhatsApp is expanding its messaging capabilities with an innovative "Guest Chat" feature that will allow users to communicate with others without requiring a WhatsApp account. Currently being tested in Android beta version 2.25.22.13, this feature is expected to roll out to beta testers in the coming weeks.

How Guest Chat Works

Users can invite non-WhatsApp users to chat by sending a secure link. The recipient can click the link and start messaging through a web-based interface without downloading the app or creating an account. All conversations will be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring privacy between sender and receiver.

Limitations of Guest Chat

  • No media sharing (photos, videos, or GIFs)

  • No voice/video messages or calls

  • Only one-on-one chats (no group chats)

  • Temporary access (full control remains with WhatsApp's system)

Expected Release

While WhatsApp has not announced an official launch date, the feature is likely to be introduced to beta users soon, followed by a public release. This update aims to make WhatsApp more accessible while maintaining security standards.

The Guest Chat feature could be particularly useful for quick, secure conversations with people who don’t use WhatsApp regularly. Further updates will follow as testing progresses.
