Maoist-Led Municipalities Operate Without Party Interference: Prachanda Claims
Kathmandu – Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Center), has asserted that local governments led by his party are performing better than others. Speaking at an interaction program on Social Justice, Inclusion, and the Role of Social Organizations organized by the Maoist Center's Social Welfare Department in Lalitpur on Tuesday, Prachanda emphasized that his party does not interfere in the functioning of local administrations under its leadership.
Local Governments Can Perform Better with Proper Planning
Prachanda stated that local governments have the potential to deliver even stronger results if they work systematically. He acknowledged, however, that the current governance structure lacks transparency, leading to financial irregularities. "Where necessary, we must intervene to ensure institutions operate with integrity," he added.
Push for Policy Influence in National Politics and Institutions
The Maoist leader also highlighted his party's intent to influence national politics and various institutions in line with its policies. He claimed that during his time in government, he took steps to address the issue of social organizations receiving budgets parallel to the state's official financial allocations.
Prachanda's remarks come amid ongoing discussions about governance efficiency and political accountability in Nepal's federal structure. His statements aim to reinforce the Maoist Center's commitment to decentralized governance while maintaining oversight where transparency is lacking.
