Kathmandu, February 12 — The Nepal Samajwadi Party (Naya Shakti) passed a 13-point contemporary proposal during its first general convention. The convention, which took place on February 9, 10, and 11, concluded with the approval of the proposal.
According to the proposal, the party condemned the government's practice of bypassing the Parliament and introducing ordinances, which it views as a longstanding political trend that undermines democracy and increases public dissatisfaction with the system.
Furthermore, in light of the delayed peace process in Nepal following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, the party has called for the effective implementation and swift completion of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons, based on consensus among political parties.
The party also expressed concern over the current state of the economy, highlighting signs of stagnation and crisis in the first six months of the fiscal year. Additionally, it raised alarms over the growing corruption and commission-based practices within state institutions.
Moreover, the convention emphasized the need to complete the remaining provisions of the democratic republic’s constitution and called for the country to move forward in the direction of inclusive democracy, federalism, good governance, prosperity, and advanced socialism. The convention reaffirmed its commitment to building a new alternative socialist power, advocating for the progressive unification of democratic, socialist forces as an alternative to the corrupt, outdated powers.
