Ordinances not to be presented in today's HoR and NA meetings

Kathmandu, February 9 — The ordinances will not be presented in today’s meetings of the House of Representatives and National Assembly.

Earlier, on February 6, the agenda for presenting the ordinanceswas removed after it seemed unlikely that the ruling coalition would have the majority in the National Assembly.

The government has put the ordinances on hold because the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal has not yet decided whether to support it.

Although the ruling coalition has a clear majority in the House of Representatives, it still needs the support of the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal in the National Assembly.

The Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, which supports the KP Sharma Oli-led government formed by the Congress-UML alliance, has expressed disagreement with the land-related ordinance.

However, the party has indicated support for five other ordinances.

According to constitutional provisions, if the ordinance is not accepted by both houses of the federal parliament, it will automatically become inactive.
