Maoist Center set to present strong opposition in Parliament

Kathmandu, February 5 — The main opposition party, the CPN (Maoist Center), is all geared up to present itself effectively in Parliament.

The winter session of the Parliament resumed on January 31, nearly five months after it was last held.

On the first day of the session, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the House, following which the opposition leader, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', was scheduled to speak.

However, Speaker Devraj Ghimire gave speaking time to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, as the ruling party's leader.

After being allocated only 20 minutes, Prachanda expressed dissatisfaction and sent Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey to meet with the Speaker.

According to MP Madhav Sapkota, Prachanda will address the session on Thursday with special time allocated for him.

Sapkota emphasized that the opposition had shown restraint on the first day, given it was the opening session.

Sapkota added, "We didn't engage in strong resistance on the first day, but on Thursday, our parliamentary leader, Prachanda, will address the House, and thereafter, we will present a strong and effective opposition to the government's wrongdoings."

He also mentioned that they would demonstrate effective presence in collaboration with other opposition parties.

On the first day, all party leaders expressed their views based on party lines, and opposition parties concluded that the six-month tenure of the Oli government had been a complete failure.
