Japanese Film Festival: Free screenings in Kathmandu this weekend

Kathmandu, January 30 — The Embassy of Japan, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, is hosting the Japanese Film Festival in Kathmandu on January 31 and February 1, 2025.

The event, supported by the Japanese Language Teachers’ Association Nepal (JALTAN), will take place at The National Theatre in Jamal.

The festival will showcase a selection of Japanese films, all subtitled in English. Entry is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

The screening schedule is as follows: On January 31 (Friday), Brave Father Online: Our Story of FINAL FANTASY XIV will be shown at 12:00 p.m., followed by ITO at 2:15 p.m. On February 1 (Saturday), the films Dreaming of the Meridian Arc (11:00 a.m.), Lu Over the Wall (1:00 p.m.), and The Fish Tale (3:00 p.m.) will be screened.

In addition to the film screenings, there will be a special opportunity to experience traditional Japanese clothing, including the Yukata and Happi coat, at the venue on Saturday, February 1.

The Embassy hopes that this event will provide a meaningful and enjoyable experience for the Nepali people to engage with Japanese culture and lifestyle.
