Former secretary of PAC Chair arrested in fraud case

Biratnagar, January 9 — Anil Kumar Pokharel, the former personal secretary of Rishikesh Pokhrel, the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, has been arrested by the police.

He was apprehended in Biratnagar on charges of fraud.

The police had obtained permission from the Morang District Court to arrest him in connection with a case involving criminal gain from fraud.

Pokharel is accused of taking 3.88 million rupees from Bauwalal Chaudhary of Agnisair Krishnasavaran Rural Municipality-5, Saptari, under the pretext of helping his daughter get a name on the MBBS course.

The police are preparing to take Pokharel to court for an extension of his remand today.
