Nepal’s first female ambassador Shah passes away

Kathmandu, January 2 — Nepal’s first female ambassador, Bindeshwari Shah, has passed away at the age of 92.

Family sources confirmed her death on Thursday. Shah was the mother of former banker Anilkesari Shah.

She was appointed as Nepal’s Ambassador to India in 1987.

During her tenure in New Delhi, she was promoted from the position of Joint Secretary to Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1971, she made history by becoming the first Nepalese Acting Ambassador to Bangladesh.
