Teachers stage sit-in at Maoist Center headquarters

Kathmandu, March 14 — The Nepal Teachers' Federation (NTF) has staged a sit-in at the Maoist Center's party office in Parisdanda, demanding the passage of the School Education Bill based on the agreements made with them.
As part of their second-phase protest program, the NTF held the sit-in at the Maoist party office on Friday, aiming to pressurize the government to fulfill their demands.
According to NTF President Laxmi Kishor Subedi, the Federation has been demanding that the government implement the agreements previously made with them and pass the School Education Bill in the ongoing parliamentary session.
Subedi highlighted that the country's development has been hindered due to the government's indifference towards education.
He also criticized the government's lack of attention to educational development and warned that they would force the government to meet their demands.
Under the second-phase of the protest, the NTF has announced to stage sit-ins at various central offices of political parties until March 19.
Additionally, from March 20, they will begin an indefinite street protest focused in Kathmandu.
Subedi further stated that the Federation will not hold any negotiations with the government and will continue to apply pressure for the implementation of the previous agreements.
