Holi being celebrated in Terai Madhes today

Nawalparasi, March 14 — The festival of colors, Holi, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm today in the Terai and Madhes regions.

While Holi (Fagu Purnima) was celebrated in the hilly and Himalayan districts yesterday, it is traditionally celebrated in the Terai districts today.

Today, Holi is being celebrated in various districts including Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East), Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West), Chitwan, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Udaypur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, and Kanchanpur.

However, in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East), where the Tharu community has a significant presence, Holi is celebrated with special importance.

The festival is a time to erase all forms of discrimination, as people joyfully apply colors to each other, creating a sense of unity and celebration.

Holi is considered a festival of joy and colors that fills everyone with happiness and enthusiasm.

Pandit Buddhisagar Bhandari explained that Holi, with its spirit of unity, is a source of inspiration for equality and goodwill.

"Holi symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood, purity over deceit, and righteousness over unrighteousness, and it has always played a role in promoting unity in diversity," he said.

"In addition to its religious significance, Holi plays a special role in fostering social harmony and enthusiasm," he added.
