Heavy snowfall hits Humla
Humla, December 28 — Snowfall has been occurring since Friday night in the mountainous district of Humla and other high regions of Karnali. The change in weather, with thick clouds covering the sky and no sunlight during the day, led to the snowfall starting Friday night.
On Saturday morning, about 4 inches of snow had accumulated in the district headquarters, Simkot, while in the northern Namkha Rural Municipality, the snowfall reached up to two feet.
This is the third instance of snowfall in Humla, which has brought relief to the farmers, said local Gaurora Bohora. The snow is expected to improve the production of spring crops, according to farmers in Humla.
The snowfall has disrupted life in the district headquarters, Simkot, and northern Namkha Rural Municipality. On Saturday morning, the locals were unable to go outside due to the cold weather.
The temperature has dropped below freezing as a result of the snow, and the only air service connecting the district to other areas has been disrupted due to the ongoing snowfall.
