Nepal Airlines offers discount on tickets

Kathmandu, November 21 — Nepal Airlines, the national flag carrier, has announced a discount on international flight fares. According to the airline's spokesperson, Ramesh Poudel, passengers will receive a discount ranging from a minimum of Rs 2,500 to a maximum of Rs 5,000.

Discounts will be provided on flights from Kathmandu to New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in India, with a reduction of up to Rs 2,500. Discounts of up to Rs 5,000 will be available for flights to Doha (Qatar), Dubai (UAE), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hong Kong, Bangkok (Thailand), and Narita (Japan), as stated in the airline's press release.

The airline has begun offering these discounts on international destinations as per the special directive of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, in line with its national responsibilities. The decision follows growing complaints about rising airfare, prompting Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey to direct international airlines to provide transparent fare details within 24 hours.

While airlines had previously reached a five-point agreement with the regulatory authority to control airfare increases, its implementation was delayed, which led Minister Pandey to urge airlines to address the concerns of the public.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Nepal Airlines has also provided a special discount for cancer patients. Between November 1 and 22, 37 cancer patients received 100% discounted tickets for round-trip flights to Delhi, and 33 companions of these patients received a 50% discount, as recommended by the Nepal Cancer Relief Society and based on doctor’s reports.
