India supports Congress-UML government, says BJP leader Jolly
Kathmandu, November 21 — Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr. Vijay Jolly said that the Congress-UML coalition government in Nepal is a timely necessity for the country.
Speaking at an interaction program organized by Reporters Club in Kathmandu on Thursday, he also expressed his party’s support for the coalition government.
Dr. Jolly claimed that India has never interfered in Nepal's internal affairs. Regarding Prime Minister Oli’s upcoming visit to China and discussions about the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Jolly stated that decisions on foreign visits are Nepal’s sovereign matters, which India fully respects.
He noted that every country engages diplomatically to serve its interests. He emphasized that the border disputes between Nepal and India should be resolved through government-level, political, and diplomatic dialogues.
Dr. Jolly reiterated India’s readiness to resolve border disputes. However, he expressed dissatisfaction over Nepal including its revised map (featuring the Kalapani-Limpiyadhura region) on the new NPR 100 currency note, stating that no country includes disputed areas in its official maps.
As a former head of the BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department, Dr. Jolly recalled his longstanding visits and engagements with Nepal over the years.
