Dozen YouTube channels shut down for broadcasting fake documents about PM Oli

Kathmandu, November 20 — YouTube channels that broadcasted documents released by Durga Prasain, alleging that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had invested in a Cambodian telecom company, have been shut down.

AIG Deepak Thapa of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) confirmed to Ratopati that 12 YouTube channels have been blocked for sharing such content.

The documents were also shared on the Facebook account of Durga Prasain, a businessman in the medical sector. Three of the YouTube channels were found to be operating without registration. The Press Council has communicated with the Nepal Police's Cyber Bureau to take action against the operators of these channels.

Prasain had made claims about the Prime Minister's multi-million-dollar investments in Cambodia. However, preliminary investigations revealed that the documents were forged, according to AIG Thapa. The police have arrested Prasain and are conducting further investigations into the matter.
