Government expenditure exceeds revenue in first four months of FY 2024/25
Kathmandu, November 17 — During the first four months (mid-July to mid-November) of the current fiscal year 2024/25, the government's expenditure exceeded its revenue. According to data from the Financial Comptroller General Office, the government collected revenue of NPR 329.01 billion during this period, which is 22.36% of the annual target.
This revenue was generated from taxes and other sources, while no grants were received during the period. The government has set a target of receiving NPR 52.32 billion in grants for the current fiscal year.
In the same period, government expenditure reached NPR 415.02 billion. Out of this, NPR 292.52 billion was spent on recurrent expenses, NPR 34.53 billion on capital expenditure, and NPR 87.96 billion on financial management.
