NEPSE index drops 18.25 points on last trading day of the week
Kathmandu, October 24 — On the last trading day of the week, Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 18.25 points. Starting at 2,646 points, the NEPSE experienced fluctuations before settling at 2,627 points.
On Thursday, share prices of 107 companies fell, while 67 companies saw an increase and 7 companies' prices remained stable. A total of 1,228,300 shares were bought and sold, amounting to a trading volume of 5.41 billion rupees.
All subgroups, except for hydropower, saw a decline in their indices on Thursday. The hydropower subgroup index increased by 0.36%.
Overall, the stock market experienced a decline of 118 points throughout the week. The index had closed at 2,745 points the previous week. On Sunday, the index dropped by 47 points to reach 2,697 points. On Monday, it fell by 58 points, while Tuesday saw a rise of 26 points. Wednesday also recorded a decline of 20 points.
This week, trading volumes have also been decreasing. On Sunday, shares worth 7.86 billion rupees were traded, followed by 5.72 billion on Monday and 4.07 billion on Tuesday. NEPSE reported a trading volume of 6.15 billion rupees on Wednesday.
