Contempt of court convict allegedly harasses SC spokesperson

Kathmandu, October 17 — The Deputy Registrar and spokesperson of the Supreme Court, Govinda Ghimire, has requested protection after being reportedly threatened by Rajkumar Timilsina, who was found guilty of contempt of court, through repeated calls from unknown numbers.

In the controversial audio related to the "Sidhakura" case, Ghimire drafted a report to advance the contempt of court proceedings. He stated that he received threats from an Indian phone number based on this issue.

Two journalists from Sidhakura.com have already served a week in jail for publishing and broadcasting content based on the audio, while Timilsina remains at large. The two journalists received a three-month sentence with conditions, whereas Timilsina was sentenced to six months without conditions.

According to a ruling from the Supreme Court's extended full bench of nine justices, Timilsina is evading arrest. He has not even been granted an opportunity to apologize for creating a fake audio. The Supreme Court ruled on September 29 that he would not be allowed to pay for release from custody.
