Former UML Provincial Assembly member arrested in cooperative embezzlement case

Kathmandu, December 24 —Two individuals, including former provincial assembly member Mina Gurung, have been arrested by the police on charges of embezzlement involving the Suryadarshan Cooperative funds.

Mina Gurung and Aarati Gurung, the absconding defendants, were arrested, according to Kaski's SP Shambabu Oliya.

Mina Gurung, 63, from Rani Pauwa in Pokhara Metropolitan City-12, is a former member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly from the CPN-UML party. She is also the former vice-chairperson of the Suryadarshan Cooperative's management committee.

Aarati Gurung, 46, from Chipledhunga in Pokhara Metropolitan City-27, is the former treasurer of the Suryadarshan Cooperative.

Both of them were absconding defendants in the supplementary charge sheet of the Suryadarshan Cooperative case.

SP Oliya informed that the two would be presented in court on Wednesday.
