FNCCI president Dhakal calls for long-term policy formulation

Kathmandu, October 7 — Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), stated that the government should not make policies based on trends or whims. He made these remarks at an event held in Kathmandu on Monday.

Dhakal pointed out that certain policies are often created impulsively, leading to regret later on, and emphasized the need for long-term thinking in policy formulation.

He noted that although the government established the Revenue Advisory Committee, it was shut down within two years. He stressed that policies should not be made or discarded on a whim and also mentioned that revenue should not solely be based on monitoring.

He said, “We must create policies that provide long-term benefits. Not everything should rely on monitoring to increase revenue.”

Dhakal highlighted the importance of instilling confidence in the general public.

He asserted that stable policies would lead to the growth of businesses, and if people believe in the presence of stable policies in Nepal, the industrial sector could thrive in a short period.
