14 passenger assistance booths established across Kathmandu Valley
Kathmandu, October 7 — To assist those returning to their villages during Dashain and Tihar, the Valley Traffic Police Office has set up passenger assistance booths. According to DSP Rabin Karki of the Valley Traffic Police Office, these booths have been established at 14 locations in the Kathmandu Valley.
The assistance booths are located in Nagdhunga, Kalanki, Bafal, Machhapokhari, New Bus Park, Chabahil, Gaushala, Koteshwor, Balkhu, Dakshinkali, and Sundhara in Kathmandu, as well as in Jagate, Bhaktapur, and in Satdobato and Chapagaun in Lalitpur.
Two traffic police officers will be stationed at each temporarily constructed assistance booth. In addition to traffic police, local and community police will also be deployed as part of the security plan. Officers at the booths will play awareness jingles to inform passengers about safety.
DSP Karki explained that the booths are designed to address complaints and issues raised by passengers, providing necessary support. He mentioned that a fare list will be posted visibly at the assistance booths for passengers unaware of the charges. Traffic police stationed at the booths will also ensure fare rates are displayed at ticket counters.
Traffic police assigned to the booths have been given the authority to closely monitor fare rates and investigate any instances of fake or duplicate tickets. They will assist passengers in boarding buses or other vehicles that may have left without them and have the authority to take action against those charging excessive fares or overloading vehicles.
