Gold worth NPR 110 million seized in Hetauda, two arrested
Makwanpur, October 5 — Over NPR 110 million worth of gold has been seized from Hetauda, Makwanpur. The District Police Office informed that 8 kilograms and 43.97 grams of gold were recovered from the Ratomate checkpoint in Hetauda-15.
According to the police, the market value of the seized gold is NPR 11,43,57,878. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the gold, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police Bishwaraj Khadka.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 25-year-old Abhishek Ajinath Kuti and 27-year-old Rahul Bhittiwal Bad, both residents of Pujarwadi in Sangli district, Maharashtra, India.
SP Khadka stated that at 3:00 AM on October 5, a police team dispatched from the District Police Office in Makwanpur stopped and checked a scooter bearing the registration number Bagmati Province 02-047 Pa 7503, which was traveling from Pathlaiya to Hetauda, based on specific intelligence.
During the inspection, the police found that Bad and Kuti had hidden the gold on their bodies in various places. SP Khadka revealed that they had taped the gold in eight biscuit-shaped pieces to their bodies.
According to Khadka, they had taken the gold from Janakpur and traveled to Pathlaiya by bus. From Pathlaiya, they were coming towards Hetauda on the scooter. Initial investigations indicate they were heading to deliver the gold in Gaushala, Kathmandu. The recovered gold and the arrested individuals are set to be forwarded to the Revenue Investigation Office in Pathlaiya, Bara, for further investigation and action.
