High alert issued for Koshi and Bagmati provinces amid heavy rainfall forecast

Kathmandu, October 2 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed security agencies, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, chief district officers, all provincial security bodies, and local levels to remain on high alert due to forecasts of heavy rainfall in certain areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

Minister Lekhak urged the general public to take precautions to avoid potential risks, as the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Meteorological Forecasting Division has projected heavy rainfall in parts of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

“I have instructed the chief district officers of Koshi and Bagmati provinces and heads of security agencies at the provincial and district levels to remain alert according to the rainfall forecast,” he said.

The Home Minister added that he has directed the heads of security agencies and the disaster authority to remain prepared at the Ministry of Home Affairs for further coordination and necessary actions related to this situation. Minister Lekhak also urged everyone to exercise caution while traveling, as many highways in the country remain blocked due to previous floods and landslides, and the risk of landslides persists.
