Health Ministry urges free treatment for flood victims at all health institutions
Kathmandu, September 28 — The Ministry of Health and Population has urged all health institutions to provide free treatment to injured patients rescued from the disasters caused by rainfall and flooding. In a statement released on Saturday, spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki requested all provincial health and emergency operation centers to publicize hotline numbers for health-related issues during emergencies.
The statement noted that recent weather changes, including thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, have adversely affected public health across most regions of Nepal and could pose further risks in the future. All health institutions and relevant stakeholders have been advised to remain alert and assist in treatment efforts.
Provincial health emergency centers have been instructed to coordinate with hub and satellite hospitals to keep emergency medical teams prepared, ensuring that rapid response teams at provincial, district, and local levels are ready for action.
Additionally, provincial health emergency centers are tasked with coordinating with health partner organizations and updating resources to ensure emergency services and personnel are available 24/7.
In case of health-related issues during emergencies, the public is encouraged to contact the call center hotline number 1115. For emergencies requiring transport to health facilities, they should call hotline number 102, which is staffed by trained ambulance drivers and health workers.
Dr. Budhathoki mentioned that the ministry is coordinating with local district health offices and relevant provincial authorities to manage public health safety through health emergency operation centers.
