Over 20,000 security personnel deployed for flood rescue operations nationwide
Kathmandu, September 28 — Over 20,000 security personnel have been deployed nationwide for search and rescue operations in response to floods, landslides, and inundation caused by continuous heavy rainfall. Security forces are actively working to mitigate disaster impacts, protect lives, and conduct rescues and health treatment for affected citizens.
As of now, more than 1,000 citizens have been successfully rescued, with 10,041 personnel from the Nepal Police and 10,540 from the Armed Police Force involved in rescue efforts. In the Kathmandu Valley alone, 4,760 Nepal Police and 3,500 Armed Police personnel are engaged in rescue operations.
Additionally, the Nepal Army has rescued four individuals via helicopter from various locations in the Kathmandu Valley. The army is deployed in affected areas nationwide, while the National Investigation Department is actively gathering information.
Home Ministry spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari reported that as of Saturday afternoon, 1,053 individuals have been rescued. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak emphasized the government's active involvement in rescue, relief, and medical care for the injured, and directed relevant agencies to restore blocked roads caused by landslides and floods.
