People's reps oriented on food security issues

Lamjung (Besisahar) - The elected local people's representatives have been oriented on food security issues. 

The Nepal Food Security Monitoring System organized an orientation programme for the people's representatives of the local level here on Sunday. The orientation was organized in coordination with the Ministry of Agricultural Development and the cooperation of the World Food Programme. 

Speaking on the occasion, Sharad Chandra Shrestha, Director at the Regional Agriculture Directorate, Pokhara, urged the people's representatives at the local level to prepare an accurate database on the situation of food security in their respective localities and implement programmes to address the problems accordingly. 

Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Agricultural Development, Ram Krishna Regmi presented a paper on the Nepal Food Security Monitoring System in the Changed Context and Nepal in the Context of Food Security Dimension. 

Similarly, Nepal Food Security Monitoring System coordinator Bakhat Niraula elucidated on the evolution of the food security monitoring system in Nepal, main activities and the process involved.
