Woman vanishes after dry landslide in Gulmi

Gulmi, September 23 — A woman has gone missing at Simle in Malika Rural Municipality-2 due to a dry landslide. Sixty-nine-year-old Tani Pun has been missing since Sunday. The landslide occurred while she was grazing cattle in the Manakamana Community Forest, located near her home. Following that, she has been unaccounted for, according to the district police office.

During the search operation today in the area affected by the landslide, the police reported finding two dead cows. The landslide originated from an elevation of about six hundred meters in the community forest.

Since she has not been in contact, the police suspect she may have been buried in the landslide, as informed by Shankar Prasad Pokharel, an information officer at the district police office, who stated that locals and police are conducting the search.
