Stock market decline persists; trading volume plummets
Kathmandu, September 11—The stock market index (NEPSE) has been on a decline for several days. After reaching 3,000 points on August 15, the index has been falling steadily.
Today (Wednesday), the index dropped to 2,610 points, leading to a halt in trading.
The index decreased by 22.73 points on Wednesday. Alongside the index decline, the trading volume has also significantly decreased. When the index was at 3,000 points, trading amounted to NPR 29.03 billion. Since then, the turnover has dropped to NPR 6.85 billion, with a continuing downward trend.
Analysts view this decline as a typical market correction. Share analyst Bharat Aryal notes that investors may be adopting a wait-and-see approach. He explains, "Many investors do not fully understand the market processes, but with companies announcing dividends, it appears that investors are adjusting their strategies accordingly."
Aryal believes that the stock market, currently undergoing correction, will regain its momentum in the near future.
