Two arrested at TIA for gold smuggling

Kathmandu, September 10 — Police have arrested two individuals at Tribhuvan International Airport in connection with gold smuggling.

The suspects are Samir Ahmed, 31, from Sarumarani Rural Municipality-1 in Pyuthan, and Devraj Khatri, 30, from Khotang.

Ahmed, who arrived in Kathmandu from Doha, was found in possession of 54 grams of gold in the form of bars and rings, as well as mobile phones.

Khatri was arrested with 25 grams of gold jewelry, two mobile phones, and a laptop, while attempting to illegally collect gold that had evaded customs.

The Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office is currently investigating the case.
