Police investigate mother-son murder in Katari

Gaighat, September 6 — Police have been dispatched to investigate the murder of a mother and her son in Sorung Chhabise, Katari Municipality-10.

Despite 24 hours having passed since the incident, the family has not yet filed a complaint with the police.

On Thursday morning, 40-year-old Nirmala Thapa and her 6-year-old son, Aarus Thapa, were found murdered. The local police in Katari were alerted by residents and arrived at the scene.

Umesh Mahato, Inspector of Police at the Area Police Office in Katari, informed that the bodies have been sent to Katari Hospital for autopsy.

As of Thursday evening, no complaint had been lodged with the police on behalf of the victims. Nirmala Thapa’s husband, Ashok Thapa, who remarried two years ago, is currently in India.

Following her husband’s second marriage, Nirmala had been running a shop near the village ward office with her son. On Thursday morning, villagers notified the police after discovering the mother and son dead in their home, with sharp weapon wounds on their heads.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Chapagain stated that a specialized police team has been assigned to investigate the case.
