IED blast kills two children in Panchthar

Biratnagar, August 30 — Two children have died following an explosion in Dandagaon of Phalelung Rural Municipality-5 in Panchthar district.

According to the District Police Office in Panchthar, the victims were 11-year-old Dipasan Sanwa and 2-year-old Priyasa Sanwa.

Police Chief of Panchthar Hemant Bhandari Chhetri informed that Dipasan Sanwa died while receiving treatment at Ilam Hospital, while Priyasa Sanwa passed away at Birtamod Hospital.

The explosion occurred at the home of Aitaraj Kerung in Dandagaon yesterday.

The condition of the injured 11-year-old Pawan Rai and Dipasan Rai is reported to be stable.

Authorities are still investigating the type of explosive involved.

The area has been sealed off since last night due to suspicions about the presence of additional explosives.
