Dengue cases rise to 5,589 across Nepal
Kathmandu, August 29 — 470 new cases of dengue have been reported across the country recently. There were 5,119 dengue cases nationwide as of August 23. With the addition of these new cases, the total reached 5,589 by August 27. This data is from mid-February onward.
According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), dengue has spread to 75 out of 77 districts, excluding Humla and Mustang. There have been 3 deaths due to dengue since February.
More than 500 dengue cases have been reported in two districts — Tanahun and Kaski.
Tanahun has recorded 1,067 cases, while Kaski has 536 cases. The EDCD notes that the dengue-related deaths also involved other underlying health conditions.
Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, which primarily bites in the afternoon. To prevent dengue, doctors advise avoiding mosquito bites through protective measures.
