Highway closure: Indian bus recovery efforts underway in Aanbookhaireni
Tanahun, August 26 — The Aanbookhaireni-Muglin section of the Prithviraj Highway in Tanahun will be closed for four hours starting at 6:30 a.m. on Monday.
The closure is necessary to remove an Indian bus that plunged into the Marshyangdi River in Ainapahara on Friday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai from the District Police Office Tanahun informed that heavy traffic on the highway necessitates the roadblock.
Despite efforts to extract the bus with a crane on Saturday, it was only moved ten meters. Rai emphasized that closing the road is crucial for the successful removal of the bus.
The accident, which involved a bus traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, resulted in 27 fatalities.
The 16 injured passengers are being treated at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
Police are also searching for a missing person related to the incident.
