Flood alert issued as Monsoon rain and thunderstorms forecasted
Kathmandu, August 26 — The influence of monsoon wind continues across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few locations in other provinces on Monday.
There is also a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
According to this morning’s measurements, the flow levels in the Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali rivers, and their tributaries, as well as the Kankai, Kamala, Bagmati, East Rapti, West Rapti, and Babai rivers, are currently below alert levels and are rising normally, according to the department’s flood forecasting division.
River flows in Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, and some smaller rivers in these areas are expected to increase significantly today, posing a risk of sudden rises.
Flows are also anticipated to rise in smaller rivers across Rasuwa, Kavrepalanchowk, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Makawanpur, Parsa, Chitwan, Rukum West, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Kalikot, Achham, Baitadi, Darchula, Dadeldhura, Doti, and surrounding districts.
