Ivory Coast national arrested with 1.88 kg of cocaine in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, August 25 — Police have arrested a foreign national with cocaine valued at 40 million rupees. Bhamra Kon, a citizen of Ivory Coast, was taken into custody.

Prem Bahadur Shahi, an information officer at the Narcotics Control Bureau, informed on Sunday that one kilogram and 88 grams of cocaine were found in his possession.

Shahi explained that Kon arrived in Nepal on a Qatar Airways flight on August 19 and was arrested with 69 capsules of cocaine at a hotel at Jyatha in Thamel. The cocaine capsules were concealed inside a toy.

Police investigation revealed that Kon had swallowed the capsules in Nigeria before traveling to Kathmandu via Ethiopia and Doha.

The Narcotics Control Bureau has initiated legal action against him under the Narcotics Drugs (Control) Act, 1976.
