Protesters call for abolition of corruption protection measures (Photos)
Kathmandu, August 24 – A group of youths protested near Baluwatar, presenting several demands. They called for the abolition of a five-year limitation while investigating graft cases.
The protesters also urged for a thorough and impartial investigation into various scandals, including those involved in the Giribandhu Tea Estate scam, Bhutanese refugees scam, and Lalita Niwas scam.
Additionally, they demanded the establishment of an independent commission to investigate the assets of all top leaders to date. They also called for the immediate recovery of 22.24 billion rupees that the Nepal Electricity Authority is owed by various traders.
Furthermore, the protesters sought to ensure voting rights for Nepali citizens abroad and to address the issues faced by Nepali workers who have suffered during their foreign employment.
