18 bodies recovered from Tanahun bus crash; Army helicopter deployed

Kathmandu, August 23 - The bodies of 18 individuals who died in the bus accident in Aanbukhaireni, Tanahun have been recovered. There were 41 passengers on board, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining injured, according to police reports.

The bus, with Indian license plate UP FT 7623, was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu on Friday morning when it plunged into the Marshyangdi river after crashing into a guardrail.

All passengers were Indian citizens.

The group had arrived in Pokhara from Gorakhpur on August 21 and were on their way back to Kathmandu after spending two days at the Majheri Resort.

Following the accident, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Army have been mobilized for rescue operations.

The Nepal Army has dispatched a helicopter to assist with the rescue of those injured in the accident. The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the helicopter was deployed specifically to help the seriously injured.

The helicopter has just arrived at the accident site, and efforts are underway to transport the injured to Kathmandu.
