Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi highway obstructed

Nuwakot, August 22 - Traffic has been halted on the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi road due to a landslide that has caused large stones to fall onto the road.

According to Jejung Karki, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, the "dedicated double lane" road is completely closed because a large boulder fell near Bolukhola in Belkotgadhi Municipality-8 of Nuwakot.

The road connecting Devighat through Mahadevphant to Galchhi is entirely blocked. With no alternative route available, vehicle movement has been severely disrupted.

The police have advised drivers traveling from Dhading’s Galchhi to Keyrong via Nuwakot’s Trishuli and Rasuwagadhi to reach Kathmandu by using the Tokha-Chhahare road.

Dhruba Kumar Shrestha, head of the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi Road Planning Office, stated that it will take time to reopen the road, as a "breaker" needs to be installed to remove the large rock that fell during the landslide on Wednesday night.

Heavy equipment and manpower have been mobilized since this morning to remove the landslide.
