Two die of suffocation while cleaning well in Dang
Tulsipur (Dang) - Two individuals died from suffocation while cleaning a well in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-13, Damargaon, Dang.
According to Dam Prasad Shrestha, Police Inspector at the Area Police Office in Tulsipur, the deceased are 38-year-old Yam Bahadur BK and 16-year-old Mukesh BK, both from the same area.
After both men fell unconscious inside the well, a rescue team from the Nepal Army and Nepal Police, equipped with oxygen from the Ambapur Base Camp, attempted to save them.
They were transported to Rapti Regional Hospital in Tulsipur, but the doctor declared them dead upon arrival at 11 a.m. The incident occurred at 8 a.m., but the police were notified at 9 a.m.
Initially, Yam Bahadur entered the well. When he did not respond, Mukesh attempted to assist him but also lost consciousness. The well, which is about 15 feet deep and lacked a rope for safety, made their rescue difficult.
The bodies have been taken to the mortuary of Rapti Provincial Hospital in Tulsipur for post-mortem.
